Skywest Airlines is pleased to announce the purchase of another Fokker 50 aircraft, which arrived in Perth last week.
This additional aircraft will enable Skywest to launch new flights and schedules on its Geraldton, Carnarvon and Exmouth routes.
Commencing 3 December, Skywest will introduce a return service between Geraldton and Carnarvon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; as well as additional Geraldton flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The fleet expansion also enables Skywest to convert its Exmouth route to primarily a jet route. Jet services will operate on the Exmouth route - Sundays through to Thursdays, with Fridays and Saturdays remaining as a Fokker 50 service.
Skywest CEO Johanna Ramsay said the additional aircraft would enable Skywest to respond to changing market demand.
"The increased flights on the Geraldton route, as well as the introduction of a Geraldton to Carnarvon return service, is in direct response to recent consultation with the City of Geraldton and the Mid-West Chamber of Commerce, " Ms Ramsay said.
"The demand to increase services on these sectors is growing, and Skywest is now in a position to be able to respond to that demand," she said.
Ms Ramsay said that converting the Exmouth sector to a jet route would allow for an increase in tourism for the Exmouth/Coral Bay region.
"We are delighted to be introducing more capacity for both the leisure and corporate consumer into Exmouth and Coral Bay," she said.
All changes are effective 3 December 2006.
