The number of skilled job vacancies in Western Australia fell by 2.3 per cent in July.
But over the past 12 months, according to figures released today by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace, WA has recorded the largest increase in vacancies, up 56.6 per cent.
The figures show the department's skilled vacancies index in July was 46.4 points, 22.7 per cent higher than in July 2009.
The department's internet vacancy index rose 0.9 per cent for the month of June to 80.3 points, to be 11.5 per cent higher than in June last night.
Vacancies in July fell in two of the three occupational groups monitored by the department.
Trades were up 1.0 per cent, but associate professionals were down 1.4 per cent and professionals fell by 1.1 per cent.
Increases were recorded in advertised vacancies for seven of the 18 skilled occupations monitored.
The largest rise was recorded for social professionals, up 4.1 per cent, while the biggest decrease was in printing trades, down 10.2 per cent.
The largest increase in advertised skilled vacancies was recorded in Tasmania, up by 7.7 per cent.
Queensland was the only state to record a fall over the year, down 29.6 per cent.
