Shield Mining Limited (ASX:SHX) is pleased to announce that it has been granted a new permit for gold and base metals exploration in Mauritania.
The permit, Exploration Licence No. 365 ('EL 365') was granted to Shield Mining Mauritania S.A. for Group 2 minerals, effective 26th June 2007 (Council of Ministers Decree No. 2007-211). The licence expires in 3 years, renewable twice for 3 years each time. Shield Mining Mauritania S.A. is a fully owned subsidiary company of Shield Mining Limited.
EL365 covers 1446km2 and is the northern extension of the 160km shear zone that Shield is exploring in Mauritania. It also covers the strike extension of the >2000m rock chip and >800m soil anomalies of the Conchita prospect which was previously announced on the 25th May 2007.
The results for these and a plan of the permit can be seen on the Company website at www.shieldmining.com.
"The granting of this licence is important to Shield as we now have additional strike length of the shear zone to explore an area extending the Company's exploration footprint up to the border of Western Sahara," Shield Mining's Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Netherway, said today.
