Cell Aquaculture Ltd has appointed former Cooperative Bulk Handling Group chairman Robert Sewell as its new non-executive chairman replacing Perryman Leach, who has been temporarily serving in the position at the recently-listed company.
Mr Sewell became a director of the Grain Pool of WA in 1978, serving as chairman from 1992 to 2002, when he led the merger with CBH.
He was chairman of the merged entity until earlier this year, when a board battle led to his replacement in Tony Critch. Mr Sewell remains a director of CBH.
Mr Leach will continue to serve as managing director, a position he has held while also filling the chairman role.
"Rob Sewell is an outstanding appointment for a small fast-growing company and his years of experience in chairing the board of a publicly-listed company and decades of experience in primary industry and international trade significantly strengthen our board at a time when the company is expanding internationally and commercialising our unique aquaculture technology," Mr Leach told the Australian Stock Exchange.
Cell Aquaculture listed on the ASX in July this year after raising $5.2 million.
Meanwhile, in another appointment announced today, Tony Grist will become non-executive chairman of telecommunications group Amcom, after being executive chairman since co-founding the carrier in 1999 with Andrew Mclean.
Eddy Lee, Amcom's chief executive has also renewed his contract for another two years.
