OSBORNE Park-based Secure Systems Limited has won the ‘best of show’ award in the Enterprise Systems Defence category at CeBIT New York 2004.
Against a strong line up of multinational competition the company won the award for its Enterprise Silicon Data Vault (SDV) hardware product.
More than 350 companies exhibited at CeBIT this year, including Microsoft, HP, Iomega and NEC.
SDV is currently undergoing beta testing as part of its early adopter program in a division of the Australian Defence Force, as well as large corporate entities in the banking, finance, insurance and mining industries in the US, UK and Australia.
Speaking from New York, Secure Systems chairman and CEO Michael Wynne said the award would raise the profile of the company and its products.
Mr Wynne said the company was also in discussions with the US Government and the US Department of Defense about possible applications of the product.
While IT security was identified as a growth area by the company when it was established in May 2000, Mr Wynne said the fall out from the September 11 2001 attacks and the current threat of terrorism has raised the profile of security as an issue.
“Security will always be an issue as the IT age grows,” he said. “We believe there is a tremendous potential for growth for Secure Systems and the Silicon Data Vault in this market.
“Driven by the increase in data theft, destructive viruses and rapidly increasing regulatory requirements, we are happy that we are in the right place at the right time.
“We now have an office in the US and will look to open an office in the UK within the next 12 months.
“We are not scared off by competition from global giants.”
