Elizabeth Quay’s eye-catching pedestrian bridge is taking shape, with the second arch lifted into place by a joint venture between contracting firms SRG Limited, Decmil Group and Hawkins Civil.
The bridge is the first of its kind in Perth – a 20-metre high double-arch cable-stay structure that will provide access for pedestrians and cyclists to the island at Elizabeth Quay.
SRG is ASX listed and was formerly based in Victoria under the name Structural Systems, until it changed its name and shifted its registered office to Perth in January.
“We are delighted to see both bridge arches now in place at Elizabeth Quay,” SRG managing director David Macgeorge said.
“The bridge will become an important centrepiece of the Perth foreshore and has been made possible through the expertise and hard work of a number of skilled structural and civil engineers, structural steel fabricators and site operatives.”
Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority chief executive Kieran Kinsella said it was exciting to see another construction milestone at Elizabeth Quay, where construction of the inlet and public space is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
“The new bridge provides a wonderful architectural focal point for the city and most importantly reconnects the popular recreational route around the Swan River,” he said.
