School project to PM

An environmental restoration project by a mid-west regional school and a mineral sands processing company has reached the finals of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.

Dongara District High School and Westline Ltd’s partnership is one of only three of its type in Australia to reach the finals of the awards.

It is the only one of twenty-four WA entries to reach the finals.

The partnership is turning bare dunes near Dongara into self-

sustaining eco-systems.

More than 300 students have been involved in the three-year-old partnership.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Canberra on 26 June.
