A distinguished ruby vintage, to satisfy the taste buds of the finest wine connoisseur, played its role recently in a development project now being undertaken by Sandalford Wines, one of WA’s oldest and largest privately owned wineries.

The company has just released a new brand of wine called Element, the Essence of Nature, the launch of which coincides with Sandalford’s plans to diversify into new hospitality, tourism and functions markets. To this end, it has invested $6 million to upgrade its Swan Valley Caversham Estate winery and related infrastructure, including a restaurant and cellar.

The marketing division created the new brand’s look to combine the elements of earth, wind, fire and water – all essential to the production of wine andcomplement Sandalford’s upgrade at Caversham.

Sandalford chairman Peter Prendiville said because the company is excited about the growth in tourism in WA, it had taken the initiative in developing a wine tour product.

“The intention is to give visitors an opportunity to enjoy the experience of wine via the tour, restaurant and tasting areas,” he said.

While the facility is still under construction, the plan is to commence tours early next year. The project includes the building of The Oak Room, a multi-purpose function centre ideal for corporate meetings, weddings, cocktail parties and other functions.
