Five WA companies and individuals have been recognised for their innovation and contribution to safety and health systems at the 2011 Work Safety Awards.
Civil infrastructure and building company Decmil won the award for best safety and health management system in the private sector.
Professional engineering construction company Leicon Notley picked up the award for best workplace safety and health practices in a small business.
Patient service assistant John McDonnell from Hollywood Private Hospital won the award for best individual contribution to safety and health by a person with no formal responsibility for occupational safety and health.
The Wellington Dam Alliance won the award for best solution to an identified workplace safety and health issue. The alliance is a partnership between Leighton Contractors, the Water Corporation, Hydro Tasmania, Structural Systems and AECOM and is responsible for the dam’s improvement project.
The Public Transport Authority was recognised for the best safety and health management system in the public sector.
