Scientific firm SGS Australia Pty Ltd this month took up residence in new facilities at Perth Airport.
The company’s business analyst, Craig Dennis, said the new offices and warehouse would provide customers with a state-of-the-art laboratory as well as quality testing capabilities across the entire SGS service portfolio.
Located on a 2.7-hectare site in Kewlink West, the 6,500 square metre development off Reid Road combines all of SGS’s operations, previously spread across the Perth metropolitan area.
SGS Australia offers its testing, inspection, training and outsourcing services to 10 industries including agriculture, minerals, life sciences, oil, gas and chemicals, and consumer testing.
In WA, its core services include environmental, mineral and oil analyses, project inspections and certifications.
“The Perth Airport site offers plenty of power and natural gas, and we have power-hungry operations, so it’s ideal for us,” Mr Dennis said.
He said the new premises had fully contained scrubber units, which removed contaminants from potentially toxic air, a cafeteria with erectable walls, an open-plan office area, and meeting rooms with external LCDs.
Mr Dennis said the company’s innovative mineral sampling robot was the most interesting addition to the laboratory.
