Perth company Subsea Engineering Associates has won a contract to provide its services to the Baltic gas project in the Polish section of the Baltic Sea.
The Baltic gas project is a partnership between a subsidiary of Perth-based CalEnergy Resources, which is the operator of the project, and Polish oil company LOTOS Petrobaltic.
CalEnergy also operates the Whicher Range gas field south of Bussleton.
The scope of work under SEA's contract involves over 100 kilometres of subsea pipelines, horizontal directional drilling shore crossing, pre and post-lay trenching, risers and platform tie-ins, and system engineering including reservoir to gas plant flow assurance.
The value of SEA’s contract was not disclosed, but follows the awarding of a $1.3 million front-end engineering design (Feed) contract for the project in 2014.
SEA director Adam Czajko said the company’s focus for 2016 was to lock in the value generated during the Feed phase by completing the design and going out to the market with tender packages for the main scopes.
“We expect significant interest from contractors and suppliers given the current state of the market,” Mr Czajko said.
“With tendered costs, the project should be in a strong position for a final investment decision during the second half of the year.”
Work will be done out of SEA’s office in Perth.
