SBDC pushes field visits

THE Small Business Development Corpora-tion is pushing the field office advisory visits run by the Australian Tax Office.

SBDC managing director George Etrelezis said some small business operators were finding it hard to decided whether to register for the GST on a cash or accrual basis.

“This is an issue a field officer can explain,” Mr Etrelezis said.

“They can also provide assistance on matters such as the calculation of margins on prices after 30 June.”

Mr Etrelezis said that taxation commissioner Michael Carmody had given a guarantee the field officers would not be looking for other tax compliance issues.
