Former treasurer Eric Ripper has been elected leader of the Western Australian Labor Party, two days after former leader Alan Carpenter resigned from the post.

Did someone forget to tell the Labor Party that the backlash against the arrogance of the Carpenter Government was as much a reaction against the arrogance of Eric Ripper as it was to the arrogance of Alan Carpenter? It looks like the ALP is planning to stay in opposition for a long time.
