Perth-based contractor GRD Minproc has signed on with Resolute Mining Ltd to carry out engineering, procurement and construction management work on the $149 million Syama gold mine project in Africa.
Resolute has increased the forecast project costs by 22 per cent, or $27.8 million, following an increase in scope for the project, a Mali gold mine, and in material and labour costs.
The largest area of movement in the now $149 million project has been in the electrical cost estimate as a result for the need for more cabling than previously anticipated.
GRD Minproc's scope of work will include conversion of the Syama roaster, installation of flotation circuits, crushing modifications and alterations and new installations to the grinding, elution and carbon-in-leach areas of the plant.
