Resolute Mining has become the second Western Australia-based mining company to appoint a female executive to one of its top jobs within the past week, with Lee-Anne de Bruin to take over as chief financial officer next month.
Ms de Bruin is the former managing director of Kimberley Diamonds, and also recently served as regional chief financial officer in Australia for gold mining giant Newmont Mining.
Prior to her tenure at Newman, she was head of project function at BHP Billiton.
Commenting on Ms de Bruin’s appointment, Resolute managing director John Welborn said the incoming CFO was highly credentialed and topped a list of highly talented internal and external candidates to replace outgoing CFO Greg Fitzgerald.
“We will benefit from Lee-Anne’s expertise and demonstrated strengths in strategic business transition and her passion for performance improvement,” Mr Welborn said.
“Lee-Anne has managed teams with some of the world’s leading mining organisations and is a highly experienced CFO and managing director who brings significant global, commercial and operational experience to complement Resolute’s senior executive team.”
Mr Fitzgerald, who has been with the Perth gold miner since 1996, will retain the role of company secretary.
Ms de Bruin begins in her new role on February 27.
Resolute shares closed 2.7 per cent lower to $1.40 each.
