Four projects in regional Western Australia have shared in $32.9 million of Regional Development Australia Fund grants, which add to the flow of money from the state government's Royalties for Regions scheme.
In Katanning, $7.42 million was committed to relocate and construct a new sheep saleyards to support improved compliance with safety and animal welfare regulations, as well as environmental legislation.
The City of Rockingham was also the recipient of a grant; $5.5 million for the construction of a $11.1 million library and community centre at Baldivis.
Further north, the fund also delivered $15 million of funds for the $65 million Karratha Leisure Complex.
At Broome, $4.9 million was allocated towards the $14.6 million Kimberley Land Council office project, to allow the council’s work to expand.
Regional Development Australia Kimberley chair Michele Pucci said the investment was both welcome and a testament to the region’s growing importance on a national scale.
“It should also act as encouragement for other relevant organisations in the Kimberley who have significant projects in the pipeline that will benefit the region and who require some assistance in getting these to fruition,” Mrs Pucci said.
A total of $150 million was allocated to 35 projects across Australia.
