West Perth-based miner Kagara has revised down its annual zinc production target as it restarts trucking operations after heavy rainfalls in Queensland.
The company expects to produce 30,000 tonnes of zinc for the 2009 financial year, down from the previous guidance of 38,000t.
Kagara said it has started limited trucking of copper ore from stockpiles at its Balcooma operation to the Thalanga and Mt Garnet treatment facilities.
"This has enabled a start up at both copper treatment facilities with full processing commencing yesterday at Thalanga and processing commencing tomorrow at the Mt Garnet copper plant," Kagara said.
"Unfortunately the Burke Development Road between Chillagoe and Mt Garnet remains closed to trucking and as a result staff at the Mungana and Mt Garnet underground operations will remain on leave until the Burke Development Road is reopened.
"No significant rainfalls have occurred since the operations were closed down two weeks ago and this may signal an end to the record wet season in far North Queensland which has been largely responsible for the protracted road closures."
Shares in Kagara closed down two cents to 40.5c today.
