Quickflix (ASX: QFX), Australia's leading independent online DVD rental company, has joined forces with Harvey Norman (ASX: HVN) in its latest push to encourage more Australians to rent their favourite movies online through major retailers.
Harvey Norman customers who spend more than $75 purchasing home entertainment or computer goods during August will receive a complimentary movie rental subscription from Quickflix valued at $50. In-store posters and electronic advertisements as well as catalogue promotions will promote the offer.
Quickflix CEO Stephen Langsford said they were excited to be partnering with one of Australia's most recognisable retail brands.
"Harvey Norman is one of Australia's leading retailers of home entertainment products. Our promotion with Harvey Norman gives us another opportunity to introduce Quickflix to a segment of Australian retail customers who have a specific interest in the home entertainment area," he said.
"By redeeming the promotional voucher at the Quickflix website and following our simple sign-up process, Harvey Norman customers will have access to over 26,000 movie, documentary and TV series DVD titles available to rent or purchase."
"The beauty of the Quickflix model is there are no deadlines or late fees and the service includes free home delivery. So you can watch your favourite movies at your own leisure," Mr Langsford said.
Harvey Norman's General Manager of Computers and Communications Rutland Smith said: "Harvey Norman is pleased to offer another great deal to our loyal customers. Everyone watches movies and by spending as little as $75 at Harvey Norman you can receive over two months of home delivered movies from Quickflix.
"Harvey Norman is the leading retailer of technology in Australia and this is another example of Harvey Norman leading the way in great value technology deals".
Quickflix has seen rapid success over the last year, growing its subscriber base by 100 per cent and capturing a slice of the video rental market, previously dominated by the traditional network video stores.
Mr Langsford said much of Quickflix's success was due to highly targeted marketing activity partnering with leading brand names.
