Propane system a gas

KLEENHEAT Gas is offering a propane diesel substitute.

The system reduces black smoke and total greenhouse gas emiss-ions and engine oper-ating costs and boosts efficiency.

In 1998 the Rottnest Island powerhouse switched two of its five engines to diesel propane.

After 12 months, with 30 per cent substitution, it achieved considerable cost savings and reduced environmentally damaging emissions.

The remaining engines were converted last year.

Kleenheat is operating a gas-powered cylinder delivery truck and the City of Gosnells achieved savings after switching a sweeper and rubbish truck to the dual system.

Premier Richard Court is expected to decide on Friday whether he will provide funding to support diesel to gas conversion systems.
