Curtin University has awarded three academics the title of John Curtin Distinguished Professor. Professor Syed Islam, director of strategic projects in the Office of Research and Development, was acknowledged for his contribution to Curtin's research and training effort in electrical power engineering. Professor John Hartley, director of Curtin's Centre for Culture and Technology and leader of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry's cultural science program, was recognised for his scholarly achievement and international reputation in the field of cultural science. Faculty of Science and Engineering professor Richard Oliver was awarded the title for his academic leadership in Australia in the field of crop management.
