FORMER Western Australian treasurer and attorney-general Christian Porter has been appointed as professor of law to teach next year at WA’s newest law school at Curtin University.
As director of professional programs, Mr Porter will be responsible for establishing legal engagement in downtown Perth.
Mr Porter is currently the member for Bateman in the WA Legislative Assembly, and has won pre-selection to contend for the federal seat of Pearce at the next federal election.
Before entering parliament in 2008, he worked primarily as a lawyer in both public and private practice, including several years as a senior state prosecutor with the Director of Public Prosecutions for WA.
“Mr Porter brings a wealth of ministerial, parliamentary and legal experience to our newly established Curtin School of Law,” Curtin vice-chancellor Jeanette Hacket said.
The school will take 120 high achieving students in the first semester 2013.
