Aged care provider Rosewood Care Group has appointed Pindan for its latest build, a $70 million facility to be built on Cleaver Street in West Perth that will include a restoration of the heritage-listed Florence Hummerston Lodge.
Rosewood’s West Perth plan comprises a four-level, 152-bed residential care facility, with the heritage-listed cottage to become the centrepiece for the development.
Other amenities include an on-site cafe, a wellness centre and training rooms for medical staff.
Rosewood chief executive Mario Zulberti said the new development was designed to address shortages in the number of aged care beds available in Western Australia.
“This development represents an exciting period in the future of aged care at Rosewood and will put us at the forefront of the sector to offer more aged care beds and superior services, including dementia-specific accommodation for our ageing community,” he said.
The project is the second new-build aged care contract Pindan has won from Rosewood in recent years, following a $40 million, 120-bed facility built in Leederville in 2017.
“Pindan’s consideration of our residents helped us provide a seamless transition when operating our Leederville premises,” he said.
“We look forward to another positive experience in the development of our Cleaver Street site.”
Construction is expected to be complete by February 2021.
