Pindan will build 268 residential units at HMAS Stirling at Garden Island and 60 units at Campbell Barracks in Swanbourne worth $76 million as part of the Australian Defence Force’s building and maintenance program.
Pindan said the Plenary Living Consortium, of which it was a member, would carry out the Project Single Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct (Project Single LEAP) Phase 2.
The projects are due to be completed towards the end of 2012 and 2013 respectively.
“This project will allow us to maintain staff as stimulus projects taper off and commercial construction recovers,” Pindan’s director of business development, Scott Davison, said.
“The investment in the local economy will provide jobs for 190 workers across the two sites.”
Mr Davison said the latest win demonstrated Pindan’s growing design and construction capabilities, with its work in the sector now totalling more than $1 billion.
Project Single LEAP Phase 2 is a 33-year contract for the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of 3,015 permanent units on 14 defence bases across Australia.
Over a three-year construction phase, the total investment by the federal government in the upgrade of on-base accommodation will create more than 1,550 jobs nationally.
