THE local developer of an innovative perimeter security system has concluded a national distribution agreement with Alarmcom, one of Australia’s major wholesalers of electronic security products.
Perimeter Security Products director Luc Maingard said Alarmcom, a division of Siemens, would introduce its products on a State-by-State basis over the next few weeks.
The distribution agreement will ensure rapid national penetration for the company’s first product, Perimeter Guard, which was runner-up at the Australian Security Industry Association’s annual trade show in Sydney last month.
Perimeter Guard is based on the use of passive infra-red beams to detect intruders in defined zones.
It provides early warning of intruders before they actually reach the house or business premises that are being protected.
Mr Maingard said Alarmcom’s response to the Perimeter Guard product was very positive.
“It fits in with their existing product range, it provides an opportunity to upgrade, and there is nothing like it in the market,” he said.
“They said they don’t like getting product and just putting it on the shelf, they like to move product.”
Mr Maingard said a key selling point of the Perimeter Guard was that it could be used to upgrade existing alarm systems.
This provided a good sales opportunity for security firms to go back to their established customers.
While Perimeter does not have firm sales projections, the company would sell up to 10,000 systems if between 2 per cent and 3 per cent of people with an existing security system chose to upgrade.
“Alarmcom is an ideal vehicle for us to distribute our product nationally,” Perimeter managing director Tristan Jones said.
“There are many potential synergies between the Perimeter product range and Alarmcom, not only as a distributor but also a supplier.”
This includes the possibility of Perimeter integrating some of Alarmcom’s patented technology into the Perimeter Guard product.
Mr Maingard said Perimeter was also attracted by Alarmcom’s position as part of Siemens.
Alarmcom is a distributor of security products, closed circuit television and access control systems to the security industry and carries both in-house products and supplier components.
Its major competitors include Hills Industries’ security systems division and Ness Security Products.
