Western Australian wine exporter Palandri Ltd has doubled its total exports to Sweden after securing an order for 10,000 cases of Palandri Estate Shiraz from Systembolaget, the government run Swedish Alcohol Retail Monopoly.
The order is for the ultra premium wine segment that typically retails above AUD$15 or UK£7. The bulk of the export order is on its way to Sweden and will soon be available in Government run liquor retail outlets across the nation.
Executive Chairman Darrel Jarvis said the order recognised the strength of the Palandri brand, the quality of its wine and its competitive price on the world market.
"Palandri is an export focused wine producer and expanding our sales in all European markets is very important to our future success. We expect to continue expanding our European presence during the current year and this order to Sweden is a good step forward," Mr Jarvis said.
We are the leading exporter of West Australian wines and having an increased presence in Sweden is another step forward in the development of what we call Brand WA."
Palandri is currently responsible for 22% of all West Australian wine exports either in cases or bulk, as well as in its new innovative Cheer Pack eco-friendly packaging.
Sales to Systembolaget work on a tender system under which wine producers like Palandri compete to fulfil requests for particular regional and varietal wines based on a combination of price and quality. The Palandri Estate Shiraz underwent taste testing in competition with a range of other wines from other producers seeking the same order.
"The choice of Palandri for this order is further recognition of our uncompromising approach to producing quality Western Australian wine," said Mr Jarvis.
The order further strengthens Palandri's involvement in Scandanavian countries with the country also exporting to Norway, Finland and Denmark.
