Subiaco-based Paladin Resources Ltd has appointed Donald Shumka as a non-executive director, following the resignation of George Pirie, who left to dedicate more time to his role of CEO at Breakwater Resources Ltd.

The Board is pleased to advise of the appointment of Mr Donald Shumka as a non-executive director of Paladin Resources Ltd. Mr Shumka is Vancouver based and is the President and Managing Director of Walden Management Ltd., a consulting firm specializing in natural resources. From 1989 to 2004, he was Managing Director, Investment Banking with CIBC World Markets and Raymond James Ltd. Prior to 1989, Mr. Shumka was Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd., one of Canada's largest forest products companies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Harvard University.
He currently sits on the boards of Eldorado Gold Corporation and Northern Peru Copper Corp.
Mr Shumka's appointment follows the resignation of Mr George Pirie who, due to his increasing time commitment as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Breakwater Resources Ltd, no longer had sufficient time available to undertake his duties in his role as a non-executive director of Paladin. The Board would sincerely like to thank Mr Pirie for his contribution to the Board during a period of high growth and activity for the Company.
Mr Shumka also assumes the role of Audit Committee Chairman.
