The state opposition says it will do whatever it can to reverse a decision to award the contract for non-clinical services at the new Fiona Stanley Hospital to UK-based Serco.
Last month, Serco was named the preferred bidder to provide services like engineering and building maintenance, security, ground maintenance, linen, cleaning, catering, waste services, managed equipment services, transport, procurement, sterilisation, reception and clerical services.
Opposition Leader Eric Ripper said it is not too late for the Barnett Government to end negotiations with Serco.
"If the Barnett Government signs the contract with Serco a future Labor government would do whatever it could be reverse the decision, including negotiating with Serco to bring an early end to the contract," said Mr Ripper.
Mr Ripper is planning on introducing a bill into parliament to protect WA hospitals, health services and schools from privatisation.
"Labor's Bill would guarantee that the Barnett Government could not forge ahead with its plan to privatise essential services," he said.
Serco already runs the ticketing and transport information service for Transperth, as well as providing health and allied services to prisoners at Borallon and Acacia prisons.
The company also is the owner-operator of the Indian Pacific train, provides correction and rehabilitation services at Acacia Prison and maritime support to the Navy at HMAS Sterling through its joint venture with DMS Maritime.
