COUNCIL’S Number 8 car park is slowly reopening.
In fact, the car park bounded by Roe, James and Lake Streets started to reopen before Christmas.
Currently there are around 110 bays available although it is hoped to have 200 bays opened soon.
Council hopes to have 300 bays available by mid-March and the project is expected to be completed in June.
The closure of the car park angered Northbridge traders who claimed the closure had severely hurt their businesses.
Meanwhile, His Majesty’s Car Park on Hay Street has closed for a long overdue makeover.
The car park, a favourite of commuters, will remain closed until at least December.
Alternative parking is available at the Wilson’s car parks at 378 and 830 Murray Street and at CityPark on St George’s Terrace.
The renovations to His Majesty’s car park are expected to provide easier access.
Token machines and security monitoring will be added features of the renovation.
