Miro recruits Howell
Perth-based corporate advisory firm Miro Advisors has appointed former Woodside executive Eve Howell (pictured) to its global advisory panel. Ms Howell is a non-executive director of Downer EDI, Mermaid Marine Australia, the WA Ballet and the Ngarluma & Yindjibarndi Foundation. Miro has also appointed Wade Evans as co-head of mining. Mr Evans was previously business development manager at Panoramic Resources and will jointly lead the firm’s mining practice with director John Raston.
New directors at Aspen
Property player Aspen Group has appointed Hugh Martin (left) and Clive Appleton (bottom left) to its board of directors following the resignation of independent non-executive director and founding chairman Reg Gillard. Mr Martin, based in Sydney, was formerly an executive director at Lend Lease and is acting as consultant to Lend Lease Development. Mr Appleton, based in Melbourne, is chairman of AG Coombs and a non-executive director of Centro Retail Australia, Gandel Group and Arrow International.
Lawrenson joins Minemakers
Cliff Lawrenson has been appointed as managing director of phosphate explorer Minemakers. Mr Lawrenson is non-executive chairman of Pacific Energy and Bold Resources. He was previously chief executive officer of FerrAus, which he led to a recommended takeover by Atlas Iron in December last year.
Middlemas heads Berkeley
Uranium explorer Berkeley Resources has appointed Ian Middlemas as its new chairman and Robert Behets as a non-executive director. The two men previously worked together at Africa-focused uranium stock Mantra Resources, which was recently sold for $929 million. Current Berkeley chairman Jim Ross will remain on the board as deputy chairman. Managing director Brendan James has resigned.
McMaster, Wood join Strzelecki Metals
Adelaide-based Strzelecki Metals has appointed prominent WA businessmen Brian McMaster as executive chairman and Matthew Wood as executive director. Mr McMaster was formerly a partner at insolvency firm KordaMentha, while Mr Wood previously served as chairman of Hunnu Coal before its acquisition by Singapore’s Banpu Group in January.
