Tonkin takes reins at Reed
Former Mount Gibson Iron chief executive Luke Tonkin has been appointed as managing director of gold hopeful Reed Resources. Incumbent managing director Chris Reed will remain as an executive director, with a focus on business development.
Field, Cooper join QR National
Rail freight operator QR National has strengthened its presence in WA through the appointment of Karen Field and John Cooper as directors. Mrs Field has a background in human resources and project management and is a non-executive director at Sipa Resources, Water Corporation, Sungrid and MACA. Mr Cooper no longer resides in WA but continues to have business interests here. He is chairman of Southern Cross Electrical Engineering and holds non-executive directorships with NRW Holdings and Neptune Marine Services.
Seares moves to PIAF chair
Margaret Seares has been appointed chair of the University of Western Australia’s Perth International Arts Festival following the retirement of Michael Smith, who had the role for eight years. Emeritus professor Seares was previously senior deputy vice-chancellor at UWA and has been on the PIAF board since 2009.
Hughes becomes Ferrowest chair
Iron ore junior Ferrowest has appointed Bryan Hughes as chairman. Mr Hughes is managing director of Pitcher Partners chartered accountants, with more than 20 years of experience in the field. Previous chairman Barry Wyatt stays on as a non-executive director.
