In’t Veld to leave Verve
Verve Energy managing director Shirley In’t Veld will be leaving after five years in the job. She will leave the WA electricity provider when her contract expires next month. Ms In’t Veld spent 10 years in various senior positions at Alcoa prior to joining Verve in 2007, which the state government is considering re-merging with gas and electricity supplier Synergy.
UWA honours for Gallop, Barnaba
Former Premier Geoff Gallop is one of several people whose contributions to society are being recognised by the University of Western Australia. Dr Gallop, who is currently a director of Sydney University’s Graduate School of Government, will be awarded a UWA honorary degree of Doctor of Letters. Macquarie Bank WA chairman Mark Barnaba will be awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Commerce. Mr Barnaba is chairman of the UWA Business School board.
Bourke resigns from Nomad
Nomad Building Solutions managing director Michael Bourke has resigned and left the company. Non-executive director David Franklyn, who is the representative for Entrust Funds Management on the Nomad board, will assume the role of acting executive director as the company commences the search for a replacement.
Farrell wins top CME prize
Rio Tinto Iron Ore executive Joanne Farrell has been named the Women in Resources Champion for 2012 by WA’s Chamber of Minerals and Energy. Ms Farrell received the accolade from CME chief executive Reg Howard-Smith at a gala event to coincide with International Women’s Day last Thursday.
