Simpson forges new direction
Engineering and construction contractor Forge Group has completed its search for a new chief executive with the recruitment of David Simpson, until recently the Sydney-based chief executive of UGL Resources. Mr Simpson will take over as CEO and managing director, though the six-month notice period on his current job means he may not start until August. Current executive chairman Peter Hutchinson will remain during the transition period.
Lougher heads Western Areas
Western Areas operations director Dan Lougher has been made its new managing director effective February 1. Mr Lougher is a mining engineer who has worked for the WA nickel sulphide miner for the past six years in the roles of general manager operations and executive director operations.
South Boulder nabs Kagara’s Garofalo
Kagara finance director and company secretary Flavio Garofalo has resigned and moved to gold, nickel and potash company South Boulder Mines as chief financial officer. Meanwhile, Kagara has appointed Mark Hands to its executive committee as executive general manager corporate, a role that incorporates those of company secretary and general counsel. Mr Hands was previously company secretary and general counsel at Straits Resources, SECWA, Western Power and Verve Energy. He replaces David Peterson, who has retired.
