AIM recruits Murdoch’s Martin
Gary Martin (pictured) will succeed Patrick Cullen as chief executive officer and executive director of the Australian Institute of Management Western Australia, a private provider of management, learning and development services, with effect from January 30 2012. Professor Martin is currently senior deputy vice-chancellor at Murdoch University where he has responsibility for a number of academic and service divisions. He was vice-chancellor for an interim period between the retirement of John Yovich in March this year and the commencement of new VC Richard Higgott in August. Mr Cullen will step down at the end of the year, after 16 years as executive director of the institute.
RCR’s Dalgleish joins board
RCR Tomlinson chief executive officer Paul Dalgleish has been appointed to the board as managing director, in addition to his duties as CEO. Dr Dalgleish joined the integrated engineering solutions provider as CEO in May 2009, and has implemented substantial restructuring initiatives. He was previously CEO of United Group, Infrastructure and managing director of Montgomery Watson Constructors.
Changes at Emerson Stewart
Emerson Stewart non-executive director Tom Lawrence has been appointed as interim chairman, following the recent resignations of chairman Steven Cole and non-executive director James Cullen from the board of the engineering and environmental services group. Mr Lawrence has been the principal of Lawrence Business Management for over 15 years. He was an adviser to the company’s recently completed $28 million acquisition of contractor OTOC Group.
Bowen heads Group of 100
The Group of 100, which represents the chief financial officers of Australia’s major business enterprises, has appointed Wesfarmers finance director Terry Bowen as president, replacing Seven Group Holdings CFO Peter Lewis in the role. Mr Bowen became finance director of Coles in 2007 after its acquisition by Wesfarmers and prior to that, was managing director of Wesfarmers industrial and safety division. He is a director of Wesfarmers and Gresham Partners Holdings.
