Hunter heads KLC
Nolan Hunter has been appointed as chief executive officer of the Kimberley Land Council, a peak regional community organisation of Aboriginal people in the region working for the protection of traditional land and waters. Mr Hunter has been acting CEO since March, when Wayne Bergmann, who was CEO for more than 10 years, moved to head KRED Enterprises, a new KLC venture to develop business and job opportunities for Aboriginal people in the Kimberley. Mr Hunter was deputy CEO of the KLC for four years prior to this. He is currently also chairman of the National Native Title Council and a member of the WA state government Kimberley Regional Planning Committee.
Board movements at FMG
Herbert (Bud) Scruggs has been appointed as a non-executive independent director of WA iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group, following the retirement of Russell Scrimshaw from the board. This follows the recent appointment of former Australian ambassador to China Geoff Raby following Ian Burston’s retirement. A lawyer by training, Mr Scruggs was previously CEO of Huntsman Financial Corporation and president of Leucadia Asset Management Group, both in the US. He was previously chief of staff to the governor of Utah and chairman of the University of Utah board of trustees. He currently provides consulting services to FMG chairman Andrew Forrest’s private company, the Metal Group, and the Australian Children’s Trust.
Kelly joins Coretrack
Bernie Kelly has been appointed as chief executive officer of Coretrack, which provides technical solutions to the energy industry in the form of down-hole tools, products and services. Mr Kelly was previously operations vice-president of Baker Hughes Australasia, and has more than 15 years of oil and gas experience.
