Bilbe replaces Aamodt at Independence
Gold and nickel explorer Independence Group has appointed Peter Bilbe as chairman of the board of directors, following the resignation of Oscar Aamodt for personal reasons. Mr Bilbe is a mining engineer who has been a director of Independence Group since March 2009. He currently also holds board positions with Northern Iron, Norseman Gold and Sihayo Gold, and was previously managing director of Aztec Resources. Mr Aamodt has been with Independence Group for six years, and chairman since 2009.
Haslam resigns from Territory
Andy Haslam has stepped down as managing director of iron ore producer Territory Resources as part of a board restructure following the $133 million on-market takeover bid by Jonesville, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Noble Group. Mr Haslam has been with Territory for two years, and was previously managing director of tungsten explorer Vital Metals. Non-executive directors Fiona Harris, Giuseppe Ariti, Michael Donaldson and Ian McCubbing have also stepped down, while Andrew Simpson will stay on as chairman. William Randall, who is currently the group head of the coal and coke division for Noble Group, and Barry Bolitho have been newly appointed as directors. Noble launched its bid last month, offering 50 cents per share, warding off the takeover efforts of South Africa’s Exxaro Resources, which had submitted a highly conditional $123 million offer.
van ’t Riet to leave Coretrack
Coretrack has announced that chief executive officer Nanne van ’t Riet has been told his services are “no longer required on a day to day basis” and that he will relinquish control of the company, effective immediately. Coretrack chairman Matt Birney said the company was moving out of the research and development phase and into commercialisation, and as such needed a fresh start from a senior management perspective. General manager – globe drill Neil Hass has been appointed as acting CEO while a new CEO is being searched out. Coretrack provides technical solutions to the energy industry in the form of down hole tools, products and services.
