Murchison beefs up board
Iron ore miner Murchison Metals has appointed four new independent non-executive directors. They are former Santos vice-president Peter Wasow, former AGL chief executive Greg Martin, Macmahon Holdings chairman Ken Scott-Mackenzie and former North West Shelf general manager for Woodside, Samantha Tough. As part of a review of the company’s existing governance and executive management arrangements, managing director Trevor Matthews will step down from the board into the newly created position of chief executive. Executive chairman Paul Kopejtka’s role will change, with plans for the role of chairman to become an independent non-executive position.
Dolan dean of business school
Phil Dolan has been appointed as the new dean of the UWA Business School. Professor Dolan is professor of finance and head of the Department of Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies at Macquarie University, and will start his new post in August when Tracey Horton steps down as dean. He previously worked in senior roles at Macquarie Bank for 13 years. Professor Horton is the chairman of D’Orsogna and the WA Museum Foundation and a non-executive director of Skilled Group, Edge Employment Solutions and Cullen Wines.
Tacey heads Kresta
Window furnishings company Kresta Holdings has appointed Andrew Tacey as chief executive officer. Mr Tacey was previously the general manager of Curtain Wonderland, a wholly owned division of Kresta. He replaces interim chief executive Ian Leijer, who was appointed seven months ago to plug the gap left by the forced exit of long-serving chief executive Tass Zorbas.
Mitchell joins Westcare
Disability employment organisation Westcare Incorporated has appointed John Mitchell as chief executive officer. He was previously operating his own consulting business, working with WA companies on turnaround strategies and business growth.
