Mehan recruited to Jupiter Mines
Richard Mehan has been appointed as managing director of iron ore and manganese explorer Jupiter Mines, chaired by former BHP Billiton boss Brian Gilbertson. Most recently, Mr Mehan was president and chief executive officer Asia Pacific of Cliffs Natural Resources, and prior to this held senior roles with Portman. Jupiter has also appointed Greg Durack as chief operating officer and Matt Finkelstein as chief financial officer.
New directors at Doray Minerals
Peter Alexander and Leigh Junk have been appointed as non-executive directors to the board of gold explorer Doray Minerals. Mr Alexander was managing director and chief executive officer of Dominion Mining from 1997 until his retirement in 2008, and has continued as a non-executive director. Mr Junk is a mining engineer with 19 years’ experience in mine planning and is also a director of Sentosa Mining, the Goldfields Credit Union and Brilliant Mining.
Walsh joins Strategen
Darren Walsh has been appointed as chief executive officer of Strategen Environmental Consultants. He was previously national general manager – residential communities of Satterley Property Group and prior to that, was independent appeals convenor to WA’s environment minister. Mr Walsh has more than 20 years’ experience in environmental management, project development and delivery, and government relations and approvals.
Avery consults on Aboriginal culture
John Avery has been appointed as an Aboriginal cultural heritage consultant to the WA Department of Indigenous Affairs. Dr Avery is currently the director of indigenous heritage law reform at the federal Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities. He will provide advice on possible legislative changes to do with Aboriginal sites and Aboriginal heritage laws.
