Nolan to head new finance department
Anne Nolan has been appointed as director general of the newly established Department of Finance. Ms Nolan is currently director general of the Department of State Development. The department will concentrate on revenue, management of government building projects, works and administration and the Office of Shared Services when it splits from Treasury on July 1 2011.
Hemsley resigns from Peet board
Warwick Hemsley has resigned as a non-executive director of Peet to pursue “other interests”. Mr Hemsley was previously managing director and chief executive of the residential land development firm, during which time Peet expanded from a Perth-focused private company to a listed player in the national property market. Mr Hemsley served as a director for 26 years.
Johnson next UWA VC
The University of Western Australia has appointed academic Paul Johnson as its vice-chancellor from 2012. Professor Johnson has been vice-chancellor at Melbourne’s La Trobe University for the past four years, following three years as deputy director at the London School of Economics. (See page 29.)
King joins Ausdrill
Former Leighton Holdings chief executive officer Wal King has been appointed as deputy chairman and non-executive director at mining services firm Ausdrill. He is currently a director of Coca-Cola Amatil, the University of New South Wales Foundation and the Kimberley Foundation Australia.
