Hamilton leaves miner, joins bank
Investment bank UBS has stepped up its presence in WA with the appointment of experienced company director Neil Hamilton (pictured) as a senior adviser and Tim Day as co-head of its Perth office. Mr Day has eight years of investment banking experience in Sydney, Perth and New York. Mr Hamilton, current chairman of Mount Gibson Iron, will step down at company’s annual general meeting next week after a dispute with the company’s major shareholders.
Mansell appointed Ampella chairman
Ampella Mining has appointed former WA Newspapers and Western Power chairman Peter Mansell as its new chairman following the departure of Bill Ryan last month. Mr Mansell is currently a director of Bunnings Warehouse Property Trust and international smelting and mining company Nyrstar NV.
Philanthropy award for McCusker, Paling
Malcolm McCusker (pictured, left) has been awarded the annual United Way Award for Outstanding Philanthropy. Mr McCusker is involved in a number of charitable causes including the McCusker Foundation for Alzheimer’s Disease Research, Landcare WA and the WA Institute of Medical Research fundraising campaign. United Way has also introduced The Community Partner Award, which recognises the contribution of individuals who have made a difference to local communities. This year it was awarded to Doug Paling (pictured, right), the former chief executive officer and founder of food distribution organisation Foodbank.
