Walsh heads new Chamber of Arts
Rio Tinto boss Sam Walsh (pictured) will chair the newly formed Chamber of Arts and Culture WA. The Chamber is the first of its kind in Australia and was formed to provide a united voice to promote, advocate and represent the value of the arts and cultural sector in WA. Other board members include Janet Holmes a Court, WA Ballet Board member and businessman John Langoulant, former WA Art Gallery Chair Helen Cook and arts expert Margaret Seares.
Southam appointed finance director
Western Areas has appointed David Southam as finance director. Mr Southam joins Western Areas from Gindalbie Metals where he was chief financial officer and a director for Karara Mining. Prior to his employment at Gindalbie, he held senior management positions with Australian Railroad Group, Brambles Australia and WMC Resources.
Brightwater board revamp
Not-for-profit aged care and disability rehabilitation provider Brightwater Care Group has revamped its board following the retirement of four directors. The five new directors are Cedar Woods managing director Paul Sadlier (pictured), Patersons corporate adviser Bob de la Motte, Deloitte partner Martin Langridge, health policy expert Prudence Ford and education and training expert Siobhan Mulvey. Former newspaper editor Brian Rogers, Alliance Finance founder Martin Kane and accountant Mike Snell have all completed six-year terms on the board, while medical practitioner Dr Adele Thomas has resigned to pursue other interests. Lawyer Steven Cole remains chairman of the organisation, which is run by chief executive Penny Flett.
