Yovich announces retirement
John Yovich has announced his retirement as vice chancellor of Murdoch University, effective from early 2011. Professor Yovich, who held the position for more than eight years, will retire to pursue opportunities in the corporate sector (see page 8).
Lilly Curtin Minerals and Energy director
Mining expert Peter Lilly will return to Curtin University in January 2011 to fill the new role of executive director, minerals and energy strategy. Professor Lilly joins Curtin from his previous role as director of CSIRO’s Minerals Down Under National Research Flagship. He was previously professor of mining engineering and director of the WA School of Mines at Curtin.
E&Y announce leadership change
Ernst & Young has announced WA corporate finance partner Michael Anghie will replace Jeff Dowling as managing partner of its Perth office in January 2011. Mr Anghie currently heads the transaction advisory services team in Perth.
Conquest’s Klein takes helm of NQM
Conquest Mining chairman Jake Klein has been appointed chairman of its takeover target North Queensland Metals following the suitor gaining effective control. Mr Klein is the former chief executive of Sino Gold Mining, which was taken over by Canada’s Eldorado Gold Corporation in December last year.
