Ward heads up Mindax
Iron and uranium explorer Mindax has appointed Stephen Ward as its new managing director. Dr Ward has taken charge at Mindax after more than 30 years in the mining and minerals processing industries including 20 years at titanium pigment producer Tioxide Group. He also spent seven years with mineral sands producer Iluka Resources as the president of its US operations, and in 2007 was made a non-executive director of Arafura Resources.
Sanderson’s emergency role
Former WA agent general Kerry Sanderson has been selected as the new chairperson of the State Emergency Management Committee. The appointment follows a recommendation in the report into the Perth Hills bushfire prepared by Mick Keelty. Ms Sanderson was previously the chief executive of the Fremantle Port Authority and is currently a non-executive director of Atlas Iron. The state government has also appointed UnitingCare West chief executive Sue Ash and City of Perth chief executive Frank Edwards to the committee, taking its size to 11 board members.
Executive changes at IronClad
IronClad Mining chief operating officer Robert Mencel has stepped in to lead the company on a temporary basis following the resignation of managing director Wayne Richards. Mr Richards’ resignation comes just six months after he was appointed to the role as the company’s “standout candidate”. Mr Richards was previously the managing director at Brockman Resources and was also a senior executive at BHP Billiton.
Green checks Browse appeals
Environment Minister Bill Marmion has appointed Roy Green to investigate more than 200 appeals against the Environmental Protection Authority’s report on the Browse Liquefied Natural Gas Precinct. Dr Green, who is the former chief executive of the CSIRO and the EPA deputy chairman, has had previous experience in the petroleum industry including chairing a panel for quarantine management at the Gorgon LNG project on Barrow Island.
