The Institute of Public Administration Australia (WA Division) is presenting a half-day discussion forum for public sector managers on the topic of Old Workers, New Expectations. The forum will take place on Friday July 29 at the Novotel Langley Hotel.
Participating managers will be prepared to understand and effectively manage a maturing workforce at a time of major changes in the demographics of ageing and working, and in society’s perceptions and expectations of retirement.
Topics include:
• Assisting older workers to make the transition from work to retirement, including understanding the evolving patterns of transition from full-time work to retirement and conducting conversations to understand the perception and intentions of those approaching traditional retirement age.
• Optimising the work experience for older workers, including appreciating the impact of ‘ageist’ thinking on the workforce.
• Preserving the knowledge and skills of older workers, for example understanding and using pathways and options to best use and retain the knowledge, skills and experience of older workers.
The seminar will be presented by Anne Butorac, Ann Zubrick and Jane Figgis.
Tickets are $75 for individual IPAA members or $115 for non-members. For more information, go to www.wa.ipaa.org.au or contact IPAA WA on 9221 1177.
