Hazelmere landfill company Happy Valley Landfill Pty Ltd has been fined $20,000 for receiving inert waste on its site without holding an appropriate licence.
The company will also have pay $300 in costs.

A Hazelmere landfill company was fined $20,000 and ordered to pay $300 costs yesterday in the Midland Magistrate's Court.
Appearing before Magistrate Crawford, Happy Valley Landfill Pty Ltd pleaded guilty to:
Being the occupier of prescribed premises, caused an emission from the prescribed premises, without being the holder of a licence issued in respect of those premises; contrary to Section 56(1)(a) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
The Department of Environment and Conservation alleged that between 1 October and 31 December 2004 the defendant received inert waste at its landfill site without holding an appropriate licence under the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
Depositing inert waste on the premises is considered an "emission" under the Act.
The maximum penalty was $100,000.
