Engineering company Norfolk Group has won its first contract under a five-year framework arrangement with resources giant Rio Tinto.
The initial contract is for $17.5 million worth of electrical and instrumentation engineering and installation services at Rio Tinto’s Brockman mine in the Pilbara.
The company said up to 70 staff would work on the project, with works expected to be completed by the end of August.
Norfolk managing director Glenn Wallace said the company was well-positioned to capitalise on further work packages under the framework agreement.
“Norfolk has a strategic focus on pursuing framework and preferred supplier contracts with established customers, given the long-term planning advantages to both sides,” Mr Wallace said.
“The agreement recognises the ability of Norfolk to deliver the skills and expertise required to carry out works on large-scale expansion projects for blue-chip customers such as Rio Tinto.”
At 1:15PM, WST, Norfolk shares had shed 1.6 per cent, trading at $1.24.
