NINE commercial research and development projects have been given WA Government grants.
The grants, totalling $439,806, have been awarded under the WA Innovation Support Scheme.
Two rounds of WAISS grants are awarded each year to help offset the risks involved in research.
Current projects are as diverse as the design of a safer paving saw and the development of a computer program to extract three-dimensional information from a two-dimensional image.
Winners are required to complete their research in twelve months and meet agreed targets along the way. Applicants must fund at least half their costs and the maximum grant is $50,000.
Applications for the next round of funding close on 7 September. Information is available from the Business Assistance Gateway. Phone 9481 2525 or freecall 1800 199 251.
