The new Minister in the Carpenter Government, Tony McRae, will have responsibility for Disability Services; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests and Assisting the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure.
Mr McRae was promoted to cabinet by his parliamentary colleagues last Monday and will be sworn in at Government House this morning.
Premier Alan Carpenter congratulated Mr McRae saying he was confident the Riverton MLA would tackle his important new role with professionalism and dedication.
"I look forward to Mr McRae taking his place in a Cabinet which is working hard to provide services and policies that are in the best interests of all Western Australians," Mr Carpenter said.
As a result of the re-allocation of portfolios, Minister Margaret Quirk will have responsibility for the renamed Corrective Services portfolio and will retain Women's Interests; and Assisting the Minister for Federal Affairs. Minister David Templeman will be responsible for Community Development; Seniors and Volunteering; and Youth.
The Justice portfolio has been retitled Corrective Services to more accurately reflect the core functions of the ministry.
