North West Motel Group, a new Australian company set up to build mining accommodation, has secured $US210 million to build eight new motels in the Pilbara.
North West Motel Group plans to develop its "Chill Motel" brand in Karratha, Broome, Onslow, Newman, Port Hedland and South Hedland.
The company said it has secured a loan from international investment and asset management firm Western Gulf Advisory.
North West Motel Group executive director David Kenny said the company has a clearly defined growth strategy which would involve a substantial construction program.
It hopes to open 1,250 rooms under the Chill Motel name.
"These hotels will help cater for the long-term demand now being generated by this buoyant mining and resource catchment area," Mr Kenny said.
"Many existing motels are family-owned and lack the resources to expand.
"We plan to take over existing motels, refurbish them and boost capacity, as well as build new supply," he said.
Western Gulf Advisory believes there is significant potential for its alternative financing operations in Australia's mining, property, energy, and agricultural sectors.
The funding facility, the terms of which have not been disclosed, is being provided by WGA's European financing operations.
