Portman Limited has announced a number of board and management changes following the achievement of an 80 per cent controlling interest in the company by the US-based iron ore group, Cleveland-Cliffs.
Barry Eldridge has stepped down from his position as managing director and resigned from the board, while Richard Mehan, currently Portman’s chief operating officer, will take up a board appointment along with the role of managing director and chief executive.
Four new directors will join the Portman board representing the interests of Cleveland-Cliffs.
John Brinzo, chairman and chief executive of Cleveland-Cliffs, becomes chairman, with David Gunning, Don Gallagher and William Calfee appointed as directors. At the same time, Fiona Harris and Richard Knight have stepped down as directors while the acting chairman Michael Perrott and director Malcolm McPherson continue as independent non-executive directors.
