The company's full announcement is below:
Constellation Wines Australia (CWAU) has sold its Margaret River-based Amberley Estate vineyard and facility to family interests associated with Stephen Tobin, a Perth-based businessman.
CWAU President Troy Christensen said the company and Mr Tobin had reached a very satisfactory agreement and were now working together to ensure an orderly handover of the estate's vineyards and outstanding tourist facilities.
"We are very pleased with the agreement we have reached, CWAU will retain the
Amberley brand but Steve and Melissa will be taking over the vineyard, cellar door and restaurant facilities.
"They have a great vision for the place and this is a great outcome for the region as it will remain a drawcard with a cellar door and restaurant facility," Mr Christensen said.
Mr Tobin said respected, long-time Margaret River vigneron and wine-maker Michael Kelly had been appointed as General Manager of the estate and charged with responsibility for implementation of a staged tourism and winemaking development plan.
"Our plans for the Estate are to rename, rebrand, expand and develop the property into a premium tourism destination for Australian families and international visitors."
The couples' plans for the 67 ha property and its infrastructure include wine production, restaurants, galleries and equestrian facilities with an emphasis on hosting functions and events.
